Pro Euthanasia

Imagine being trapped inside a body which you have no control on, you can hear and see but can not respond, can not move or do anything. You dependent on a separate person for even the most basic needs of your body. I cant!. I love my life because I can live it. And feel it’s almost barbaric to leave a person to suffer like that. He/she probably wakes up every morning hoping they are dead. They are so helpless that they can’t even get up and kill themselves…what is the purpose of their lives, laying on the bed waiting for death every day, every hour, every minute, every second…

Here I am not taking about people who have made it a way of life and are happy, have people around them to love and care about them but about people who wish to bring it to an end.

Now the other side of the story is that we have no right to take somebody’s life away, which is correct in every sense of it, but then what is Capital punishment all about? If we say we can not take somebody’s life just because he/she has become a vegetable then do we really have a right to give someone a death penalty, who has all the chances of living a better life.

My question is if a person has lost the will to live can we really force him?

How do we know whether or not that person would want to die? If they cannot control anything about their body, how are they supposed to express their desire to be killed? You say they probably "wake up every morning hoping they are dead." How can you know that? You cannot go by anything they say, because they cannot say anything. Therefore, the only thing we have to go by is personal opinion. We have to think what they would want us to do. However, each and every person is going to think differently. Without them being able to indicate anything, all we are doing is projecting our own thoughts into their head. We may think, "If I were in that position, I would want to die." However, we are not in that position. Your expected reaction to an occurrence can often be different than the actual reaction you give when you are confronted with the certain situation.
Now you ask what is the difference between euthanasia and capital punishment? Look at the actions of the people that have brought them to that place. A person who is being looked at for euthanasia is there because they are unhealthy. A person who is being subjected to capital punishment is there because of some terrible crime that they have committed. In the case of capital punishment, the person has brought this upon themselves. Granted, they don't want to be there in the end, but they put themselves in that position. It is their own fault.

Hi Colin, first of all sorry for the very late reply but i think you got me wrong. here i am talking about people who don't have the will to live. if you ask me personally, if you know someone in that situation you would only want to give them positive hope. hope to keep them alive, hope that someday everything will be normal and they just might be after all miracles do happen. and as far as the capital punishment is concerned, all i wanted to say was if the govt has the right to take away somebody's life for whatever reason, shouldn't they atleast consider plea from people who are suffering, if they can not be helped out in anyway.

Colin, the reason to write this post was not to show a barbaric side of me but the thought of being trapped like that haunts me when i think about it and felt like expressing , i am sure every person is different and there are people who are dealing with worst imaginable situations in life. this was just a thought but thanks for your views appreciate it.
